<image:title>About Us - About Us…</image:title>
<image:caption>Founded in 1998, PDC WORKS (formally Psophonia Dance Company)creates and presents multidisciplinary performances that entertain, intrigue, educate and inspire learning. Over its 20-year history, PDC Works has built a reputation of excellence in narrative storytelling through dance. Early works centered purely on artistic development in modern dance, while more recent projects pursue a deeper and more meaningful collaboration with composers and musicians.. Now under the sole direction of Sophia Torres, PDC Works brings athleticism and a unique use of everyday objects to their performances. PDC Works has produced over 35 full concerts featuring 50 original works and has performed in venues throughout Houston and Texas including Latino Cultural Center (Dallas), the Moody Gardens (Galveston), Chicago Dance Festival(Chicago, IL), Cincy Fringe Festival (Cincinnati, OH), 254 Dance Festival (Waco, TX), Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival (College Station, TX), Alma Thomas Theater, Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX), St. David's Episcopal Church (Austin, TX), Texas A&M (Corpus Christi, TX). PDC Works has collaborated with local artists and art organizations including Doctor’s Orchestra of Houston, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Houston Met, Austin ensemble, Chaski, and AURA Contemporary Ensemble. In Spring 2016, PDC Works began collaborating with AURA Contemporary Ensemble producing Danza, followed by Memory Web and COLONY both evening length, interdisciplinary works funded from grants received from Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts at University of Houston. During Coronavirus, PDC Works shifted to virtual platforms participating in 2020 Cincy Fringe Primary Digital Line-up, C4 Ensemble’s Restricted Movement 5, and Morning Star Media’s 25 Days of Christmas. Additionally, PDC Works is committed to providing in-school residency programs and performances centered on arts integration through community partnerships with organizations like Young Audiences of Houston. PDC Works has presented performances, workshops, and residencies aimed at improving education, fostering children's creativity, encouraging lifelong participation in the arts, and increasing appreciation for the community's diverse cultural heritage. — Sophia Torres Artistic Director,</image:caption>

<image:caption>Since 2015 Torres and Director Rob Smith have been developing their inclusive collaborative vision through the creation of three staged works that foster an interdependence between dancer and musician. Two of these works, Memory Web and Colony, were full evening length programs presented at the Midtown Arts and Theater Complex Houston (MATCH), and one, Danza, originated around a single solo work for viola and was presented as part of AURA and PDC concerts.</image:caption>
